WindTree is located on Mt. Madonna/Summit Road and is 11.8 miles east of the intersection of Hwy 17 and Summit Road.
DRIVING TIME: Approximately 30-35 minutes from the Highway17/Summit exit.
Take 880 South to Highway 17 toward Santa Cruz. Take the Summit Rd. exit. This offramp comes up fast so be ready to exit quickly. Go Right at the stop sign onto the overpass bridge. Then take the Left onto Summit Rd. heading South East.
Take Summit Road past Summit Market on your Left. You will see a sign that says Highland Way which is also Summit Rd, continue on this past the Soquel/San Jose Road intersection and past the Burrell Fire Station on your Right.
At the stop sign, go forward and up the hill on Mount Bache Rd. (Don’t go right on Highland Way.) Mt. Bache Rd. turns into Loma Prieta Road, which is still the Summit Rd.
As soon as you leave the paved road and hit the dirt road you come to a clearing.
At this point you are at a “Y” in the road. Loma Prieta Way ends and Summit begins again so veer Right.
Take this dirt road going going up Mt. Madonna Rd./Summit Rd. (about 10 min) passing Maymen’s Flat. (2.4 miles on dirt road)
On Summit Road about 100 feet after Maymen’s Flat Rd, enter through the open yellow gate that says “No Trespassing”.
Continue for 1/4 mile until you see the WindTree sign and address 31440 on the right hand side of the road. Enter the concrete paved driveway and come up to WindTree.
Note: If you are on Summit Rd and have come to a street sign for “Ormsby Trail” on your right hand side you have missed the driveway and gone too far. Turn around and go back 1/2 mile. You will see the WindTree driveway on the left hand side.

From Santa Cruz take Hwy. 17 north to Summit Road.

Take the Porter Street/Bay Avenue exit off Hwy 1. Turn Left onto Porter St. past Soquel Dr. Continue on Soquel Dr as it turns into Old San Jose Rd. 0.3 miles.
Take Soquel/Old San Jose Road to Summit Rd.
Continue about 12 miles up the hill and Turn Right (east) onto Summit Road at the “T” intersection.
Continue on Summit Road to the stop sign. Go forward and up the hill on Mount Bache Rd. (Don’t go right on Highland Way.) Mt. Bache turns into Loma Prieta Road, which is still Summit Rd.

Step-by-step driving directions to WindTree from points South on 101 near Gilroy:
Take 101 North towards Gilroy. About 11 miles north of 129, take the second 152 exit which is WEST towards Watsonville (not Pacheco Pass). Now you are going West. Follow the 152 signs; there are about 3 turns. (it zigs and zags through Gilroy). You will be going up a mountain (Hecker Pass). approximately 10 miles. At the top of the mountain, just past the 15 mph curve, turn right into Mount Madonna County Park (Pole Line Road). Follow the yellow line through the park (2.2 miles). Do not pay the park entrance fee. When you come to the stop sign at the end of the park, notice the huge Redwood tree on the right hand side of the intersection. Continue forward onto Summit Road.
About 1.6 miles from here you should see Mount Madonna Center land mark, on your left hand side. WindTree is about 7 miles from Mt. Madonna Center on the same road.
Continue on Summit road past Mt .Madonna Center and the Kim Son Buddhist meditation center. The paved road transitions to dirt and you will see signs that say “Private Road and Road Closed” Ignore these signs and continue.
Eventually you will also see a huge radio tower near Ormsby Volunteer Fire Department on your right. Continue on past these points.
On your left hand side you will see a road sign for “Ormsby Trail”. Continue past this for 1/2 mile to the crest of the next hill and you will find WindTree.
Look for a sign that says WindTree on your left side and the address 31440 painted on a sign. Turn left into the driveway going up.

Step-by-step driving directions to WindTree from points South (Big Sur, Monterey, Watsonville) on Highway 1
Take Highway 1 north from Monterey, to the Green Valley (Highway 152 East) exit in Watsonville. Turn right on Green Valley. Take Green Valley east to the intersection with Airport Boulevard (to the left) and Holohan Road (to the right).
Turn right onto Holohan Road and continue until you reach Highway 152. Turn left (East) onto Highway 152.
Just past the Mount Madonna Inn, at the top of the mountain, turn left into Mount Madonna County Park (Pole Line Road). Follow the yellow line through the park. Do not pay the park entrance fee. When you come to the stop sign at the end of the park, continue forward on Summit Road. (Pole Line Road becomes Summit Road).
